Wow! Is it Wednesday already?!
It was another busy day and students are definitely showing signs that they are ready for the break. We will push ahead and continue with as much learning as we can in the next day!
We began our day with a short DEAR period to settle into our day as everyone was very excited about the snow. After DEAR we headed down to music with Mr. Wiens.
Once back upstairs, we worked on "playing" with division one more time and once students were finished with the required questions, we started to get set up for a game of division battleship but were interrupted by our Parent Council volunteers and their Christmas Book Gifts! We all went downstairs and had a chance to look through books and choose one to bring home with us. After this we had recess and then moved back into math. We set up our game for battleship and it was all of the students vs. Ms. Laird. This game really helps students use their number sense (as long as they are playing it correctly) using both multiplication and division. Then we had a chance to watch part of The Grinch which we are using to discuss character traits, personal development and also using as an entry point for some of our Language Arts writing using figurative language.
After lunch, students were excited to get to work on the props for their stop motion animation videos. The backgrounds are coming along and the storyboards are complete. We will begin filming tomorrow morning and will hopefully have enough time to show them during the afternoon. If not, we will have to wait to share them until after the break.
Later in the afternoon we had gym and then caroling with the whole school before the end of the day.
Reminders:
-Tomorrow is the last day of school!!! No school on Friday!
-Grade 4/5 students will have a pajama day tomorrow (no stuffies, blankets, or pillows please)
-Report cards go home tomorrow
